Egyptian Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi testified on Tuesday that he has no information on the destruction of state-security documents, adding that the military intelligence is working with the state security apparatus to serve the nation.

Egyptian activists had stormed the headquarters of the State Security apparatus a few weeks following the 2011 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak, destroying and leaking official documents.

Sisi added in his testimony on Tuesday that the army took to the streets on January 28 to fill in the security void left by the collapse of the police, explaining that when it learned that activists were about to storm the premises, it gave orders to not use violence.

Another hearing will be held on Wednesday for former State Security chief Hassan Abdel Rahman and about 40 of his aides.
