Mubarak's sons released in presidential palace case

CAIRO, Oct 12 (Aswat Masriya) – A Cairo court ordered the release of Alaa and Gamal Mubarak, stating that they have already compeleted their three-year prison sentence in the case the "presidential palaces" case.

Their lawyer Farid al-Deeb said in court that Mubarak’s sons spent 43 months in jail which exceeds three years.

The court had sentenced the two brothers and Mubarak to three years in prison and a EGP 125 million fine in a case known in the media as the “presidential palaces” case, when they were found guilty of siezing public funds allocated to the renovation of presidential palaces.

Gamal and Alaa had since sought to subtract the time they were remanded in custody under administrative detention from the final prison term.

The Prosecutor General had accused Mubarak and his sons of seizing and facilitating the seizure of funds worth EGP 125,779,237 in the period between 2002 and 2011.
